Old school/current model:
First:
Total volume (e.g. run huge amount of kms per week)

Second:
Intensity (e.g. sport specific interval training)

Third:
Skill (e.g. running technique)

LETS FLIP IT:

First:
Skills/Drills (e.g. become efficient with your technique)

Second:
Intensity (e.g. build your intensity up with your skill level to maintain skill under fatigue, then rest and repeat)

Third:
Total volume (e.g. bring kms per week up when technique and intensity have stabilised)
